I’ve Not the Answer

Artist: Lacuna Coil
Song: Falling Again
Album: In a Reverie
Mood: Contemplative and morose

A background story on this post would teeter on the line of getting too personal with my readers. All you really need to know is that this week hasn’t been quite so pleasant. Too much inner turmoil; too many things I want but don’t have; just spending way too much time contemplating instead of enjoying.

It’s time to turn to the “wallow in sadness playlist” and one song that pops up is “Falling Again” by the Italian metal band Lacuna Coil. But there isn’t a trace of metal in this song. It’s too sad to be that empowering. Instead we have acoustic guitars, light drumming, and the soulful voice of Cristina Scabbia singing, “I lay, looking at my hands/I search in these lines/I’ve not the answer.” Oh, the annoying confusions of life. Too many questions in life that go unanswered, fears that haunt us everyday. When your mind won’t stop racing, take comfort knowing that everyone goes through times like these. “Some days I cry alone/But I know I’m not the only one.”

Some think listening to depressing music while you’re depressed is counter-intuitive. For me, it’s therapeutic. Yeah you get sad at first when you listen, but it releases all that negative emotion. Enjoy the release today.
