Like everyone else around the world, I am still heartbroken about the loss of Amy Winehouse. Yes, her personal life was less than ideal but her beautiful contralto vocals and her classical style inspired me to venture out to other musical styles. I single handedly consider her the reason why I rediscovered Motown Records and why I go to a jazz club once a month.
Picking a favorite on Back to Black is a difficult challenge because each song is so beautifully written and full of soul. “Back to Black” is an eloquently written song about the hardships of relationships and the challenges she faced. So today, play an Amy Winehouse song loud in her honor.
